Texture Toki - Flow
In the style of a toki or adze, a cornerstone tool to Maori and other cultures across the world. To me it represents the importance of stone tools to humankind, a symbol of strength, perseverance and creativity.
This stone spans from the edge of the crust at the top, through a deep translucent olive into the bluey-green heart. It has a beautiful glow in the light, and features a soft iron spot on the side.
The flow patterning is carved in relief, with etching to give a textured finish. Inspired by wood grain and water currents, the patterns can mean many things to different people.
Measuring 85mm long and 34mm at the widest point.
